Meet Brooke, Alexis and Brynn Clagett
In December 2007, Thomas and Erin Clagett learned they were expecting identical triplets, who were due in July. The next month, Erin was put on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. She was hospitalized in May because she was having contractions. For the next three weeks, doctors tried to stop the contractions but they were unsuccessful.
Erin gave birth to Brooke (3 lbs., 16 oz.), Alexis (3 lbs., 13 oz.) and Brynn (4 lbs., 3 oz.) on May 31. The triplets were born at 33 weeks (if a pregnancy is healthy, it’s best if a baby is born at 40 weeks) and spent more than three weeks in the NICU before coming home.
Brooke, Alexis and Brynn are now happy, healthy two-year-olds who are the little stars of the movie "Life As We Know It." As the 2011 Western Maryland Division ambassador family, the Clagetts will share their story, help raise awareness of premature birth, and encourage residents and companies to participate in March for Babies.
